Abstract: If a dynamical system is finite dimensional, in certain occasions the system enough invariant functions so that the system can be described as a commutative family of linear motions, and this system is called as a completely integrable system. In 1967 the KdV equation, which is a non-linear partial differential equation, was found to have infinitely many invariants. This was a trigger of the long history of completely integrable systems in infinite dimensional.spaces. In the talk we start from finite dimensional integrable system and explain how people have been trying to solve the KdV equation.
